There are so many small distilleries which were closed already in Japan. This bottle is produced by one of those – Toyo Jozo in Shizuoka prefecture, which was merged into Asahi Kasei in 1992.
Since established in early Meiji era about 150 years ago as Sake company, Wakita Shuzo, they have been producing Sake and Shochu mainly. I don’t know when they started to make whisky but this bottle has Toyo Jozo address on it’s label without “Tokkyu” description – means made aftet 1989 and before 1992.
