Marsmalt Le Papillon in front of Mars Distillery first potstill designed by Mr. Iwai, who was one of the supporters to send Mr. Taketsuru to Scotland in 1920.
This one is the first bottle of Le Papillon single cask series, 58% ABV, and two more will be following (info from distillery shop).Those are #25 and #27 out of 599 bottles and only two were left after me at the shop…!
It’s note is like mint tea, little nutmeg and fresh leaf. Palate is faint mint but with thick squeak pollen, maybe from the white oak cask, which can be imagined by papillon.
Anyway good place to visit especially in good weather!
The new potstills are designed exactly same shape as the above original potstill but new features like siteglasses are added.
